Today I’ve Integrated…
WHAT COMES MOST NATURALLY FEELS THE MOST THREATENING
When something seems too good to be true, we can feel a strange reluctance to accept what aligns perfectly with who we are. Especially if we’ve been taught throughout our lives that struggle and effort is the only path to success, we may internalize ease and effortlessness as illegitimate or undeserved. This tells us that we don’t feel threatened by what is most difficult. But rather, we feel threatened by what comes most naturally to us.
You don’t resist because you doubt your ability. You resist because you can’t deny your ability.
You don’t distrust your talent. You distrust the ease that doesn’t require proving your talent.
You don’t doubt your instincts. You doubt what will happen if you follow your instincts.
It’s much easier to accept the idea that struggle leads to success, than it is to accept the idea that success doesn’t always require struggle. Sometimes, we get so used to the familiarity of struggle and hardship that we become suspicious when something feels naturally easy and effortless. But living in alignment isn’t about making ourselves needlessly suffer to justify our path. Alignment is about living honestly. And the most honest way to live is to be in-service by doing what come most naturally and effortlessly to us.
