Today I’ve Integrated…
ENVY EXPOSES THE LIFE YOU REFUSE TO CLAIM
If someone’s life makes you envious, it’s likely because their courage is exposing the stories you’ve been telling yourself about why you can’t have the life you want. So the next time you encounter someone who is doing something you have secretly wanted to do for years, look deeper into your own hesitation of what their life is reminding you of.
Beneath the frustration felt from their actions is likely the frustration of your own inaction.
Beneath the discomfort felt from their competency is likely the discomfort of your own inadequacy.
Beneath the anxiety felt from their belonging is likely the anxiety of your own longing.
We envy people because their courage makes our excuses impossible to ignore and forces us to confront the pain of recognizing our own unused potential. But people don’t become envious of things they know they don’t want. Envy only appears when someone is living a life that you want, but refuse to claim for yourself.
