Today I’ve Integrated…

Don’t Burry The Memory, Complete The Story

Whenever someone targets you with a memory that’s misinterpreted, don’t burry the memory away as if it never happened. As long as you perpetuate them to believe their interpretation is the right one by doing that, they will never understand how they’re also responsible for influencing you to do the things you did. So if you value giving their memory of you the justice it deserves, don’t deny what happened. Instead be the one who completes the story.

By remaining silent in the conversation, it’s an injustice to you because you avoid the opportunity to stand up for yourself.
By withdrawing from the conversation, it’s an injustice to them because you prevent them from seeing how they’re also responsible.
By walking away from the conversation, it’s an injustice to everyone because you abandon the story from coming to full circle.

When you own your role for their memory of your actions while also helping them understand the role they played that influenced you to do those things, it no longer becomes about proving who’s side of the story is more correct. It’s about creating space to let the whole story be told because their memory of the story is just as important as yours.
